Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology celebrates 'World Youth Skills Day-2025'



Bengaluru: ‘Students have to play the crucial role by participating in the student-led satellite initiatives and rocketry projects to shape India’s bright future in the field of Space Technology. It is the responsibility of the educational institutions to promote student engagement through structured launch opportunities and policy support. It is certain that events like these align with the vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ in the space domain to create future space technocrats in the field of Space Technology’, opined Dr. Vinod Kumar, Director, Promotion Directorate, Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe), Department of Space, Government of India, while inaugurating the three-day technical workshop to ignite young minds in Space Exploration, arranged by Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, in association with Dassault Systèmes Foundation India, to commemorate World Youth Skills Day-2025.


Gracing the occasion as Guest of Honor, Mr. Huzefa Salim, Executive Director, Dassault Systèmes Foundation India, commended the interdisciplinary approach adopted in the workshop. He emphasized the growing importance of collaborative design and simulation tools in training the aerospace workforce of the future. Mr. Salim underscored the need to blend creativity, technology, and engineering discipline to solve real-world aerospace challenges.


The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation of students from various engineering institutions from Karnataka, also featured industry experts from Dassault Systèmes Foundation India and the Indian Space-tech startup ecosystem. Mr. Srikrishna Chittur, Industry Process Director, and Mr. Praveen Bhagoji, Senior Project Manager, both from Dassault Systèmes delivered technical sessions on virtual prototyping, modeling and simulation of aerospace systems. Mr. Sunny Kabrawala, Founder of Starlabs – Space Technology and Aeronautical Rocketry, inspired participants with his journey from a student rocketeer to an entrepreneur. He conducted a hands-on session on the principles of model rocketry, payload deployment, and modular propulsion design, emphasizing safety, precision, and iterative testing. The workshop also featured a rich mix of expert lectures, hands-on labs, design simulations, and launch demonstrations. Participants were grouped into interdisciplinary teams and guided through the entire engineering lifecycle—from concept to launch.
