'Banana Buds' a platform of banana farmers in Kottayam district's Peringulam in Kerala had recently made a trial of producing banana flour from raw banana. In the first round, all preparations they made was like halwa, cake, pakka vada, mixture etc that we use only occasionally.


Realizing the limitation, the families have made 15 preparations in second round, most of which are popular breakfast items like puttu, dosa, chapathi, poori, idiyappam, eleyada etc.

"We have mixed about 25 to 30% banana flour to all these. There is no change in taste. Nor there is any negative points", This method of  'in house banana flour production' should be a boon to us, farmers", says housewife Mini Sabu.
