"Making banana flour at home and eating its preparations is an experience I can't forget in my life" says K.Krishnan Unni,57, Karshakashree award winning farmer of Palakkad district, Kerala.
It was first time in his farming career, they made banana flour at home last week. Since then, his wife, Praseeja is busy making many day-today preparations either from whole Banana Flour or by blending it with a little other flours.
Idli, Dosa,Unjniyappam, Chapathi, Upma, Puttu and Mysore Pak are the recipes they have tried. Out of this, Chapathi, Puttu and Unniyappam were made with exclusive banana flour.
"Idli was soft like sponge. Chapathi was also super. But dosa made from Banana flour was so soft that lifting it from tawa was difficult" explains Krishna Unni, "I used to have stomach ache if I eat wheat dosa or Chapathi. With Banana flour preparations, no issues at all. No acidity problem either."
The Karshakashree Award winner has decided to make regular use of banana flour in his house hereafter. "Since the last one week, only lunch i took our regular one, rest of the time it was banana flour dominated preparations. I'm really happy", says he.
