Mangalore: 'Kanaka Keerthana Gangothri' singing competition which is being organised by the Kanakadasa Research Centre of Mangalore University will be inaugurated on October 8, at 10 am.
Saint Poet, Coordinator of the Kanakadasa Study and Research Centre Gamaki M R Sathyanarayana will inaugurate the program. Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. P S Yadapadithaya will preside.
Registrar Prof. Kishore Kumar CK, SVP Institute of Kannada Studies Chairman Prof. Somanna Hongalli, Coordinator of the School Adoption Project of Mangalore University Dr. Prashant Naik and Kanakadasa Research Centre Coordinator Dr. Dhananjaya Kumble will be present.
Students from all High Schools, PU Colleges, Constituent and Autonomous Degree and PG Colleges of Mangalore University (including Rajiv Gandhi Medical Education institutions of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu Districts, Visvesvaraya Technical Education Universities) can participate in the 'Kanaka Keerthana Gangothri'. The event will be held in 7 categories including students, teachers, non-teachers and public.
The three best singers in each category will be awarded with Kanaka memento, certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 2000 during the ‘Kanaka Smriti’ function. For information, interested may contact 9591480138, said the press release.
