Mangalore: Sri Venkataramana Women's College, Karkala in collaboration with the Konkani Study Chair of Mangalore University, ‘Konkani Manyata Divas’ was organised at Sri Venkataramana Women's College here on Saturday.
SV Educational Trust President Mohandas Shenoy inaugurated the program. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy President Dr. Jagadish Pai said that Konkani is a language with a rich heritage. It is the duty of all to save and nurture it.
Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy former president Roy Castelino delivered a message on ‘Konkani Manyata Divas’. On this occasion, Roy Castelino was honoured for his contribution to Konkani language, culture and education.
Konkani Study Chair Advisory Committee Member Pundaleeka Marathe, Poornima Suresh were present in the program. Folk artist Lingappa Gowda Neerkere and Konkani Post Graduation Department Coordinator Dr Devadas Pai were present. Vice President of SV Educational Trust Ganesh Kamath presided.
Konkani Study Chair of Mangalore University Coordinator Dr Jayavantha Naik delivered introductory speech. Principal Prof. Usha Nayak welcomed. Radhika Pai and the team sang a beautiful Konkani song. Students of S. A Educational institution delivered a cultural extravaganza. Lecturer in Commerce Sitarama Naik delivered the vote of thanks. Students Srinidhi Naik and Saujanya Naik mastered the ceremony.
