Addressing the audience after inaugurating a one-day national level seminar- 'Ambigara Choudaiah: Vachana Mimamanse' organized by Ambigar Choudaiah Study Chair of Mangalore University and Kannada Department and Kannada Sangha at Ravindra Kalabhavan of University College on Friday, he said that we should focus on our negative aspects. ‘Don’t lie to yourself. Accept the shortcomings’, he added.
Chief Guest, Madras University Kannada Department Chairperson and Tamil Nadu State Unit President of Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Dr. Tamil Selvi said that the 12th-century Sharana revolutionist, rejected hypocrisy and upheld inner devotion. Ambigar Choudaiah is the most prominent among the exponents of such rebellious spirit, she said.
Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. P. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya said that students should develop an attitude of accepting the responsibility of their losses also. In his opening remarks Ambigara Choudaiah Study Chair Coordinator Prof Somanna opined that prominent in Vachana writers like Basavanna, Allama Prabhu and Ambigar Choudaiah upheld the importance of ‘Kayaka’ (hard work) for social reform, he said.
Principal Dr. Anasuya Rai, Kannada Association Coordinator Dr. Madhu Biradar and lecturers from various departments were present. Kannada department Head Dr. Madhava MK welcomed the guests, while the student secretary of the Kannada Sangha Dhanyashree extended vote of thanks. Student Vikas Raj mastered the ceremony.
In the first session, Professor of Ujire SDM College Dr. Rajashekhara Halemane spoke, while in the second session, Associate Professor of Post Graduate Kannada Studies Centre, Government College, Kasaragod Dr. Rathnakara Malladamoole presented his thoughts.
‘Vikasa’ President Dr. Nagaveni Manchi, Alva’s College Professor Harish TG were the moderators. Dr. Kotraswamy A.M.M of ‘Abhijaata’ Kannada Research Journal delivered the valedictory speech.
