A display of artificial flowers – ‘Kasadinda Rasa’


Mangalore: In association with Sanchalana, Dakshina Kannada and Development of Education Service (DEEDS), Mangalore, Rohini Raghava Achar, Puttur organized 'Kasadinda Rasa - Artificial Flowers Exhibition' at Shri Vidyanilaya Hall, Government  PU College for Women, Balmatta, recently.


Mangalore University Professor of Biology Dr. Prashantha Naik in his inaugural address said, “There is no such thing as garbage in nature. But waste management is a big problem today due to inadequate measures. Both burning and burying of solid waste are unscientific and pollute land, water and air.. Against this backdrop, creating wonderful works of art using disposable materials and creating public awareness is an unparalleled service.” 

 

Presided over the program, Principal Vanitha Devadiga, said that it is very important to inculcate environmental concerns among today's students and the 'Kasadinda Rasa’ program is meaningful and inspires them. Vana Charitable Trust Director, Environmentalist Jeet Milan Rosh, said that human is the only waste producing species in nature.It is also our responsibility to find a solution for it, he said.

 

CWC Director Rennie and others were present. Vathsalya Naik gave the introductory speech. Shailaja welcomed. Premi mastered the program, Ashalata extended vote of thanks. DEEDS, Mangalore Director Marilyn Martis, Officers, Members, Photographer Vasant Badiger were present. 


Hundreds of different types of flower decorative items have been made using used paper, newspaper, face mask, plastic hand bag, ice cream cup etc and put on display. The exhibition will be on till 30 June 2023.
