Practice Yoga, Stay Healthy without Medicine: Dr. Harikrishna Punaroor

National Seminar on Yoga held at university College Mangalore

Mangalore: Yoga should be practiced to stay healthy without medicine, Kannada Sahitya Parishat former state president Dr. Harikrishna Punaroor opined.


He spoke after inaugurating the National Seminar on Yoga which was organized by Department of Human Consciousness and Yoga Science of Mangalore University, Dharmanidhi Yoga Peetha, University College Mangalore and Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga at Ravindra Kalabhavana on Thursday. Presiding over the function, Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. Jayaraj Amin said that Yoga is very important not only for the development of human health but also as a subject for study. 


Principal Dr. Anasuya Rai and the organizing secretary of the program Dr. K Krishna Sharma welcomed the guests. Department of Human Consciousness and Yoga Science of Mangalore University Lecturer Udayakumar K extended vote of thanks. Smt. Parvathy MG mastered the ceremony. University College Mangalore Department of Yogic Science lecturers Ajithesh, Rangappa and Mohan Pailoor were present among others. 


Meanwhile, a Yoga Therapy Centre was inaugurated in the college. Resource persons spoke about Yoga in multiple sessions. Professors, researcher scholars and students presented their research papers. Nitte Deemed University Research and Copyright Adviser Prof. I Karunasagar, and Science Education and Research Centre Director Prof. Indrani Karunasagar were the guest for the closing ceremony.
