Robotic Surgery a Boon for Women with Prior Cesareans Needing Hysterectomy: A Life-Changing Surgery by Dr. Sabiha Anjum

Bengaluru, Whitefield :  A 43-year-old woman from Andhra Pradesh, who endured over seven years of abnormal uterine bleeding and chronic pelvic pain, finally found relief through the expert care of Dr. Sabiha Anjum, Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Medicover Hospitals, Whitefield.

The patient, who had undergone two previous cesarean deliveries, was experiencing worsening symptoms over the years. She had already undergone three D&C procedures with no improvement. Her condition gradually worsened, raising suspicions of early endometrial cancer due to continuous bleeding and pelvic discomfort.

When she arrived at Medicover, she was evaluated by Dr. Sabiha Anjum. Detailed examination  revealed dense adhesions caused by previous cesarean surgeries, making her a highly complex surgical case. Traditional laparoscopic or open hysterectomy would have posed significant risks and longer operating time.

Dr. Sabiha opted for a robotic-assisted hysterectomy using advanced Davinci Surgical System. Despite the challenges of severe adhesions between the uterus and surrounding organs, she meticulously separated each adhesion and safely removed the uterus all within just 1.5 hours.

“In such complicated cases, robotic surgery provides unmatched visibility and control. It allows us to operate with greater precision, minimal blood loss, and faster recovery,” says Dr. Sabiha.
