Bengaluru: ‘There is a paradigm shift from Agrarian economy to Industrial economy and from Industrial economy to knowledge based economy in India. Knowledge based economy has not only reshaped India but nations across the globe. The shift emphasizes innovation, intellectual capital and service based industries over physical production and resource extraction. Accordingly, the present generation belongs to the new phase of knowledge based economy. India, being the country of more young people in its population, it is certain that it would prepare the required work force embedded with skill-set to the entire world. At this juncture, educational institutions have to play a major role as education can transform individual productivity and therefore promote economic development’, opined Dr. M.S. Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor of Nitte Deemed to be University, while conversing with the new batch of students of Engineering, Architecture, Fashion Technology and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the venue of Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru.
The live interaction program between Vice Chancellor and students was arranged to emphasise the importance of learning and to create awareness about the opportunities ahead. Further he added that Conditions in which we are living, Capacity i.e. the ability to perform and good Character are most important factors to achieve excellence.
In the beginning Dr. Sudheer Reddy, Director of Curriculum Development and Academics, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Sandeep Shastri, Vice President, Nitte Deemed to be University, Bengaluru campus, stressed on the need of discipline, focus and morality. Rohit Punja, Administrator, Nitte Education Trust, presided over the function. Dr. Kiran Aithal, Director, Research and Development; Dr. Hitha D. Shetty, Dean (Students Welfare); Heads of other institutions; more than 2,000 students belonging to the new batch of Undergraduate programs and their parents actively participated in the interactive session.
