Surathkal, Karnataka | September 27, 2025: The National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, inaugurated its flagship annual technical festival, The Engineer 2025, yesterday at 5.00 pm at the NITK Surathkal campus. This three-day celebration of innovation and technology, scheduled from September 26 to 28, is expected to draw over 25,000 visitors and will showcase 30+ events spanning diverse technical domains.
Highlights include Hackathon, Auto Expo, Gaming Arena, Technights Projects, Robocons Expo, Tronix Expo, Drone Racing, Virtual Sky Tour, Engi Talks, ACM VR Expo, Tech Mela, and the much-anticipated Pro Show, among others.
Inaugural Ceremony
The festival was formally inaugurated today (September 26, 2025) at the NITK Surathkal campus. Shri Sudheer Kumar Reddy, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while Ms. Meenakshi Arya, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, Mangaluru Sub-Division, attended as Guest of Honor. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. B. Ravi, Director, NITK, alongside Prof. Mandela Govinda Raj, Dean (Student Welfare), and Dr. Shashi Bhushan Arya, Professor-in-Charge (Technical Clubs and Engineer).

The Chief Guest emphasized the role of technical festivals in nurturing student innovation. “Events like these offer a platform to showcase real talent, exchange ideas, and pursue what you truly love. With over 900 million internet users in India, every individual has the opportunity to create something impactful. All great Indian companies began with small ideas—think big, stay focused, and use every opportunity to build something meaningful,” he said. He encouraged students to work hard, stay rooted, and aim to create innovations that could change the world.

The Guest of Honor urged students to follow their passion with clarity and consistency. “You can pursue any profession you’re passionate about—what truly matters is focus and direction,” she said. She emphasized that small, consistent steps are more powerful than sporadic leaps, and that failure is an essential part of growth. She also highlighted NITK’s potential to contribute to regional tourism, noting, “With students like you and the support available, NITK can play a key role in showcasing this region.”

Prof. Ravi announced that The Engineer 2025 marks the 21st edition of the fest and shared plans for two upcoming flagship events—one focused on sports and another on entrepreneurship—alongside Incident and Engineer. “These festivals are not just events, they are learning experiences. Through them, students collaborate, connect, and discover their passions,” he said. He thanked the dignitaries for their presence and encouraged students to make lifelong connections and pursue their inner calling.
