Karnataka Skill Olympics' launched at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru


Bengaluru: ‘Skills are crucial because they provide a foundation for adapting to change, unlocking career opportunities and fostering personal growth. In a rapidly evolving world, developing a diverse skill set allows individuals to stay relevant and achieve professional goals. Considering the significance of skill set, Government of Karnataka has established Karnataka Skill Development Corporation to identify and encourage various skills among school children to college students, the Corporation has launched several projects, particularly Karnataka State Skill Olympics’, opined Shivakantamma Naik, Chairperson, Karnataka Skill Development Corporation, while launching ‘Karnataka Skill Olympics’ at Nitte Deemed to be University campus, Bengaluru. This programme was arranged by the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation in collaboration with Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology and Nitte School of Fashion Technology & Interior Design, Bengaluru.


Further she added – ‘There are four categories of skills identified by the Corporation. They are Life-based skills, Entrepreneurial skills, Career-based skills and Communication skills. Karnataka State has launched the ‘Skill Olympics’ to identify and nurture skill set among younger generation’.


Capt. Kaustav Nath, Chief Consultant, Karnataka Skill Development Corporation, was the Guest of Honour. In his speech he has explained the details of the forthcoming Karnataka Skill Olympics. Students born on or after 1st January 2004 are eligible to participate in the category of general skills. Those born on or after 1st January, 2001 are entitled to take part in advanced skills category. The deadline for the submission is 15th October, 2025. The competition will be held at district-level, zonal-level and finally at state-level. Those who win at the state-level would participate in national competition. The winners at national-level would represent India in world Skill Olympics championship scheduled to be held at Shangai, China in the year 2026. Those who are interested to participate should register at ‘www.skillindiadigital.gov.in’ well within the deadline. 


In the beginning, Dr. Sandhya Ravi, Principal, Nitte School of Fashion Technology and Interior Design welcomed the gathering. Rohit Punja, Administrator, Nitte Education Trust presided over the function. Dr. H.C. Nagaraj, Principal, Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, students and members of teaching community were present on the occasion.
