Deepavali during childhood was a different kind of excitement altogether. Every year, we eagerly waited for those three days of holidays from school, days filled with laughter, lights, and lots of fun with family and friends. Decorating our homes with rows of diyas and colourful festival lights was pure joy - a moment every child looked forward to with twinkling eyes.
And how can we ever forget the fireworks? Those were the days when all our friends, cousins, and even neighbours, no matter what religion they belonged to, would come together to burst crackers and light up the sky. As the sun began to set, we would rush outside to admire how beautifully each house was decorated, secretly comparing whose goodudeepa looked the best!
The nights were full of lights and sparkle and that one moment, late at night and time to go home to have dinner, our moms would start calling out our names so loudly that even the neighbouring streets could hear!
Celebrating Deepavali during Childhood was pure magic, a festival that made every moment glow brighter. But as we grow older, the excitement slowly fades away, replaced by responsibilities and routines that turn us into serious adults.
Still, we should always try to keep that spark alive to hold on to the child within us. Because Deepavali isn’t just a festival of lights; it’s a reminder to celebrate life, togetherness, and the joy of being alive.
