Puttur: The Department of Humanities, St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, in association with the Innovation Hub, Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), and the New Age Incubation Network, organised a workshop on “Entrepreneurship & Innovation: Social Entrepreneurship as a Career Path” at the PG Seminar Hall on Tuesday.
Mr Krishna Mohan P.S., Proprietor of GOLEX Industries, Puttur, was the resource person for the day. Addressing the students, he emphasised the need to cultivate entrepreneurial skills and aspire to become job creators rather than job seekers. He provided an in-depth insight into social entrepreneurship and highlighted its practical relevance in the local and regional context.
Presiding over the programme, Dr Vijaykumar Moleyar, Vice Principal of the College, underlined the importance of nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset among students. He encouraged them to move beyond conventional career paths and explore emerging opportunities. He also stressed the vital role of higher educational institutions in fostering innovation, leadership, and social responsibility, and appreciated the initiative taken to organise such programmes.
Faculty members of the Department of Humanities were present on the occasion. The programme commenced with a prayer by Ms Vaishnavi and team of II B.A. Dr Norbert Mascarenhas, Head of the Department of History and Dean of Humanities, delivered the welcome address. Capt. Johnson David Sequeira, Head of the Department of Sociology and Convenor of the programme, proposed the vote of thanks. The event was compered by Ms Srishti Shenoy of I B.A.
