Surathkal, March 30, 2026: The 2nd Geospatial Industry Conclave 2026 was successfully held at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, bringing together academia, researchers, and industry professionals to explore advancements in geospatial technologies and their real-world applications.
The conclave was jointly organized by the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society Bangalore Chapter, the Department of Water Resources and Ocean Engineering (WROE), and the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), NITK. The event witnessed participation from around 120 attendees, including students and faculty from various NITs, engineering colleges in Mangalore, Bangalore, and neighbouring institutions.
Dr. Paul Rosen from the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered a keynote address highlighting the importance of NISAR mission applications in natural resource management and disaster management. His address emphasized the growing relevance of satellite-based observations in addressing global environmental challenges.
The conclave was presided over by Prof. Udaya Bhat K., Dean (Research and Innovation), and Prof. Govinda Raj Mandela, Dean (Student Welfare). The event was convened by Dr. Shyam Lal, Dr. Shwetha H R, Dr. Chandan M C, and Er. Dilip Kumar Dalei, Chair of the IEEE GRSS Bangalore Chapter.
The institute was honored to host distinguished keynote speakers, including Dr. S. Bandyopadhyay, Director of the Mahalanobis National Crop Forecast Centre; Paramananda Jena, Scientist ‘G’ at the Defence Research and Development Organisation; Lt Col Rakesh Verma, Senior Director (Sales and Business Development) at Vantor; Muraleedhara Navada, Principal Scientist at MapmyIndia; and Dr. Rampalli Madhuri from Vassar Labs.
The sessions featured insights into cutting-edge innovations and practical applications in geospatial intelligence, with a focus on remote sensing, environmental monitoring, and disaster management. The conclave provided a valuable platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and fostering collaboration between academia and industry.
