Puttur, March 2026 : In observance of International Consumer Rights Day, the Consumer Forum in association with the Commerce Association jointly organized a large-scale Consumer Awareness Rally 2K26, reinforcing the message of responsible and informed consumer behaviour.
Held under the theme “Be Aware – Be Safe – Be a Responsible Consumer,” the initiative aimed to educate both students and the general public about consumer rights and responsibilities in today’s dynamic marketplace. The program was presided over by Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the college, who emphasized that informed consumer choices are vital for maintaining a fair and transparent economic system.
The event was graced by a panel of distinguished chief guests, including Pramod Kumar B, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Puttur, Sunanda K, President of DK Federation of Consumer Organization, and Smt. D. R. Sunanda Dambekodi, Secretary of the Federation.. Addressing the gathering, the speakers highlighted the growing importance of consumer awareness, the role of protection laws, and the need for accessible grievance redressal mechanisms.
The rally commenced at 9:30 AM from the college campus and moved through Darbe to Gandhi Katte, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. Participants carried placards and raised slogans advocating consumer rights, safety, and ethical consumption practices. Adding a creative dimension to the campaign, students also staged a street play to effectively communicate key messages on consumer awareness.
The program was coordinated by Consumer Forum conveners Praveen D and Swathi Shetty. The formal proceedings began with a welcome address by Priyanka, followed by efficient compering by Vandya. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Likitha.
Widely appreciated by the community, the initiative succeeded in fostering awareness and promoting responsible consumer behaviour.
