BENGALURU: A total of 75 undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma students in Fashion & Apparel Design, alongside Interior Design & Decoration programs, received their degree certificates during the Graduation Ceremony 2026 of the Nitte School of Fashion Technology and Interior Design, Bengaluru. The event celebrated academic milestones and featured addresses from prominent figures across government, fashion, and retail sectors.
Delivering the graduation address, Dr. C. Prabakaran, Deputy Director of the Weaver’s Service Centre, Bengaluru, under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, emphasized that technical mastery is merely a baseline in the creative industries. He stated that sketches are only the beginning of a designer's journey, adding that true mastery lies in the ability to communicate a vision by being both a persuasive speaker and an empathetic listener. Dr. Prabakaran also highlighted the civic duty of the graduating class, noting that their transition from ordinary to responsible citizens requires them to serve the society that benefited them.
The sentiment of cultural responsibility was echoed by the Guest of Honour, noted fashion stylist and choreographer Prasad Bidapa. He urged the fresh graduates to view themselves as guardians of India’s textile heritage. Bidapa strongly advised the new professionals to reject synthetic shortcuts and instead fuse ancient local artistry with global design standards to lead on the world stage, proving that Indian craftsmanship belongs in the world's fashion capitals through innovation and mentorship of traditional weavers.
Offering an industry perspective on career longevity, Neha Kumari, Learning & Development Lead of Reliance Fashion and Lifestyle, compared long-term success to the growth of a bamboo tree. She counselled the graduates to focus on building deep roots and quiet discipline rather than seeking overnight results, urging them to shed their hesitations and trust the foundation of their Indian heritage.
The function was presided over by Dr. H.C. Nagaraj, Principal of the Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, who advised the graduates to maintain a cheerful disposition while adhering to the "4 P’s" of life: Passion, Planning, Preparation, and Presentation.
The ceremony also served to recognize exceptional academic performance. First-rank holders from Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs—Chitra N, P. Aishwarya Reddy, Thanvi Mallikarjuna, and Ranjana Venkatesh—were formally felicitated alongside other top-performing students.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sandhya Ravi, Principal of the Nitte School of Management, Bengaluru, with Rohit Punja, Trustee of the Nitte Education Trust, also in attendance. The graduation concluded with a fashion show and cultural performances presented by the students of the institution.
