SURATHKAL: The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, kicked off the All-India NIT Deans' Conclave on Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem on September 24, bringing together academic leaders from across the country.
The two-day conclave, running through September 25, focuses on addressing key hurdles faced by National Institutes of Technology in research translation, product innovation, technology licensing, and startup incubation. Experts are slated to share best practices for guiding academic concepts successfully from the drawing board to market impact.
Broad National Participation: Over 50 delegates representing 30 NITs nationwide—including Deans of Research, Associate Deans, incubator heads, and innovation council coordinators—are in attendance.
Policy Adoption: The event stems from a mandate by the apex Council of NITs, tasking NITK Surathkal to help other institutions adapt its proven "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" policy.
Ecosystem Tours: Delegates are scheduled to tour NITK’s premier innovation hubs, including the Centre for System Design, the IDEA Factory, the Central Research Facility (CRF), and the Science & Technology Entrepreneurs' Park (STEP).
Speaking on the milestone event, Professor B. Ramachandra Bhat, Dean (Research & Innovation) at NITK, noted, "We expect interesting discussions and valuable insights as well as strong inter-NIT collaborations resulting from this conclave."
The concluding day on September 25 will also feature the inauguration of INCUBATE, NITK’s annual entrepreneurship festival, setting the stage for keynote addresses, competitions, and weekend events highlighting student ingenuity.
