Mangalore: Youth Red Cross unit and National Service Scheme (NSS) units of University College Mangaluru jointly organised Earth Day celebration at the college premises recently.
Principal Dr. Anasuya Rai initiated the celebrations by symbolically planting a plant in the college premises. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, she said that the day will inspire people to engage in environmental protection and realize its need.
Youth Red Cross Program Officer Dr. Kumaraswamy explained the significance of the land day as it marks the beginning of the modern environmental movement in the 1970s. NSS Officer Dr. Gayathri stressed on the environmental protection even during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mangalore University Youth Red Cross Nodal Officer Dr. Ganapathi Gowda, Economics PG Coordinator Dr. Jayavantha Nayak were present among others. NSS Officer Dr. Suresh offered the vote of thanks.
