Kum. Monisha Aisiri Gowda, daughter of Smt. Sridevi Jagadeesh and Sri Y. M. Jagadeesh and disciple of Smt. Shweta Venkatesh will be presenting her Kathak Rangmanch Pravesh through Sai Arts International on May 3rd, 2022 at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall, 6pm onwards in the distinguished presence of Dr. C. N. Ashwathnarayan, Karnataka Kalashree Sri. Sathyanaryana Raju and Karnataka Kalashree Nandini K Mehta.
Monisha Aisiri Gowda:
Monisha Aisiri began her journey in dance at the tender age of 2.5 years from Shiamak Davar’s Institute of Performing Arts and performed at many shows in Bangalore. She trained in various styles including Bollywood, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop and salsa and then began her training in Kathak at the age of 13 at the esteemed Dr. Maya Rao’s ‘Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography’. She has been training under Smt. Shweta Venkatesh in Kathak from 2019 and in Bharatanatyam under Karnataka Kalashree Dr. Suparna Venkatesh since 2020. Monisha has attained her Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from UK’s Nottingham Trent University and is now pursuing her Master’s degree in Bharatanatyam from Bangalore University.
Her Guru - Smt. Shweta Venkatesh:
Smt. Shweta Venkatesh, a Bharatanatyam and Kathak dancer, daughter of Sri. Sai Venkatesh and Smt. Dr. Suparna Venkatesh has been trained in both the Indian classical dance forms from 24 and 14 years respectively. She was initiated into Bharatanatyam by Karnataka Kalashree Guru Nandini K Mehta and into Kathak by Guru Dr. Maya Rao. She has completed her Rangapravesha in Bharatanatyam under her mother, Karnataka Kalashree Guru Dr. Suparna Venkatesh and in Kathak under Karnataka Kalashree Guru Mysore B Nagaraj. She has successfully completed her Master’s degree in dance securing the gold medal at Bangalore University. She is an empanelled ICCR artist, a graded artist in Doordarshan Kendra, CCRT and Ministry of Culture scholarship holder, and has performed extensively in the country and abroad. She assists her mother in teaching Bharatanatyam at their institution Sai Arts International and trains students in Kathak as well. She also assists her mother in training Visually Challenged artists in Bharatanatyam. Shweta is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Dance at REVA University.
