Bengaluru: Bangalore Kidney Foundation (BKF) pioneered the treatment of renal failure and kidney diseases in the state of Karnataka. The trust was established in 1979 and has evolved to become the nodal centre for providing quality renal health care at affordable costs to patients across demographic profiles and economic strata. A new state-of-the-art dialysis centre with 85 dialysis machines has been built for affordable dialysis. It also has a training centre for dialysis technicians.
Every year, the Bangalore
Kidney Foundation (BKF) conducts ‘Dhwani’ – Pt.Mallikarjun Mansur Hindustani
Music Festival in memory of the association the legendary Hindustani singer late
Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur had with BKF. The proceeds of the musical event help
in sustaining free dialysis to poor patients and adding to the corpus which
makes BKF meets its objectives.
This year the festival
will be held on the 15th and the 16th of October 2022 at
JSS Auditorium, Jayanagar 7th block, Bengaluru.
Session 1
The festival begins on
the 15th of October, Saturday with a vocal recital by Pt Dhananjay
Hegde from 5pm to 6:30pm. He will be accompanied by Pt. Rajendra Nakod on the tabla
and Ustad Sarfaraaz Khan on the Sarangi.
Award Function
Every year the BKF confers the Pt.Mallikarjun Mansur Memorial Award on an eminent performer and teacher of Hindustani classical music. This year Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty is going to be conferred the award for his invaluable services to Hindustani classical music. The award function will be held from 6:45 pm to 7:15pm. Justice Krishna S. Dixit will be the chief guest. Pandit Dr Nagaraja Rao Havaldar, renowned Hindustani vocalist, and Dr G. A. Srinivas, DD, NCD, Dept. Of Health, Govt. Of Karnataka, will the Guests of Honour.
Session 2
The
award function will be followed by a vocal recital by Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty from
7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. He will be accompanied by Pt. Yogesh Samsi on the tabla and
Pt. Ajay Joglekar on the harmonium.
Session 3
On the 16th of
October, Sunday, the third session of the festival features a vocal recital by
Sri Sameer Kulkarni who will be accompanied by Sri. Kedarnath Havaldar on the
tabla and Sri Sameer Havaldar on the harmonium from 10 am to 11 am.
Session 4
The
second programme on the 16th of October features The Manganiyars from
11:15 am to 1:15 pm. Ustad Anwar Khan will present vocal music. He will be
accompanied by Ustad Roshan Khan on vocal support, Ustad Gazi Khan Barna on
khartal, Ustad Ghewar Khan on Kamayacha and Ustad Firoze Khan on dholak.
Session 5
In
the evening of the 16th of October 2022, Sunday, Ms. Poorvi Garud
will present a vocal recital from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. She will be accompanied on
the tabla by Sri. Gurucharan Garud and on the harmonium by Sri. Soorya Upadhya.
Session 6
The
17th ‘Dhwani’ will come to a close with a unique programme featuring
Pt. Ronu Majumdar on the flute and Sri Anil Srinivasan on the piano from 7:00
pm to 9:00 pm. They will be accompanied by Sri Anubrata Chatterjee on the
tabla.
The Bangalore Kidney Foundation looks forward to hosting the illustrious line up of artists performing during the 17th ‘Dhwani’ which BKF is sure will be well received by connoisseurs of Hindustani classical of Bengaluru, contributing to the cause of needy patients suffering from kidney disorders.
