Mangalore: Job security is a dream without continuous learning in the era of technology. Harsha Raj Gatty, a researcher at Amrita University, Coimbatore and a journalist, believes that competition can only be met if new innovations are mastered regardless of age.
Speaking on “Artificial Intelligence- Opportunities and Challenges'' in a special lecture program organized by Media Club, an association of Journalism department, in collaboration with IQAC (Internal Quality Assessment Cell) in University College Mangalore here on Tuesday, Artificial Intelligence (AI) can prepare a news report in just seven seconds, which would take around 40 minutes for a reporter without AI. But it should be remembered that the life of a shortcut is also short.
Although AI will cause many job losses, it will help in creating a lot of employment opportunities as well. The digital age has created a new platform for native speakers. So artificial intelligence technology has enabled decentralization of the technology, he opined.
Presiding over the program Principal Dr. Anasuya Rai said that now technology is related to all. Learning new things is now necessary in all fields. Journalism Department Head Dr. Shani KR delivered an introductory note. Lecturers Dr. Sowmya K B and Guruprasad T. N were present. Shivaprasad Bolantoor welcomed the guests, while Krithika extended a vote of thanks. Nisarga mastered the ceremony.
