Bangalore: St. Joseph’s University, Bangalore, recently concluded a successful Internal Smart India Hackathon (SIH), a preparatory event for the larger national SIH competition. The hackathon aimed to identify and nurture innovative and talented teams from the university to represent them on a national platform.
Over 30 teams, comprising 81 male and 99 female participants, participated in the event. After a rigorous evaluation process, fifteen winning teams were selected to represent St. Joseph’s University in the Smart India Hackathon – 2024. These teams will receive mentorship from industry and academic experts to prepare them for the national competition.
The Internal Hackathon was inaugurated by Fr. Denzil Lobo SJ, Dean, School of Information Technology, Dr. B G. Prasanthi, Associate Dean, School of Information Technology, Dr. B. Nithya, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Sivakannan S, the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the Smart India Hackathon-24.
A panel of judges, including Mr. Puneeth G, Lead SME, Informatica, Mr. Sasi Kiran, Data Analytics Engineer at First Source Technologies, Dr. Sivakannan S, and Mr. Francis Densil Raj V from St. Joseph’s University, evaluated the participating teams based on criteria such as problem understanding, novelty of the idea, complexity, feasibility, sustainability, practicality, scale of impact, quality of solution, user experience, potential for future work progression, and teamwork.
The Internal Hackathon provided a valuable platform for students to showcase their innovation and problem-solving skills. The event’s success underscores St. Joseph’s University’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and preparing students for future challenges.
