Bengaluru: Bangalore Kidney Foundation (BKF) pioneered the treatment of renal failure and kidney diseases in the state of Karnataka. The trust was established in 1979 and has evolved to become the nodal centre for providing quality renal health care at affordable costs to patients across demographic profiles and economic strata. A new state-of-the-art dialysis centre with 80+ dialysis machines has been built for affordable dialysis. It is also commencing training centre for dialysis technicians. BKF, from last three years is associated with 20 Rural Dialysis Centres to enable easy and quality access to dialysis treatment in their respective regions.
Every year, the Bangalore Kidney Foundation (BKF) conducts ‘Dhwani’ – Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur Hindustani Music Festival in memory of the association the legendary Hindustani singer late Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur had with BKF. The proceeds of the musical event help in sustaining free dialysis to poor patients and adding to the corpus which makes BKF meets its objectives. This year, proceeds from 19th Dhwani will be used to provide affordable dialysis to patients’ from rural dialysis centres.
This year the festival will be held in 2 Sessions on the 28th and 29th September 2024 at Bangalore Gayana Samaja, K.R.Road, Bengaluru.
Session I has 2 concerts on Sat 28th Sept:
Concert 1 - The festival begins on the 28th of September, Saturday featuring Vocal concert by Smt.Aishwarya Rao from 5:30 pm to 6:30pm. She will be accompanied by Ms.Vijeta Hegde on Tabla and Ms.Neeta Bellayur on Harmonium.
Award Function:
Every year the BKF confers the Pandit.Mallikarjun Mansur Memorial Award on an eminent performer and teacher of Hindustani classical music. This year Pandit Venkatesh Kumar will be conferred the award for his invaluable services to Hindustani classical music. The award function will be held from 6:40 pm to 7:30 pm. Dr. Gururaj Karajagi & will be the Chief Guests & Shri.Shrinath Joshi, DCP & Dr.Vivek Jawali will the Guests of Honour.
About Awardee – Pandit Venkatesh Kumar:
Pandit Venkatesh Kumar, a renowned classical vocalist trained under Padmabhushana Dr.Puttaraja Gawai in Guru Shishya paramapara, He has studied Gwalior, Kirana Gharana styles for 12 years. He is most acclaimed for his Kannada Vachanas and Dasa Pada. He has performed in no. of music festivals all over India & abroad. He has also served as Professor at University College of Music, Dharwad for 33 years. He has many awards in his list including Padmashri Award from Govt. of India, Honorary Doctorate, Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, Kendra Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and many more.
Concert 2 - The award function will be followed by a vocal recital by Pandit Venkatesh Kumar from 7:35 pm to 9:30 pm. He will be accompanied by Sri Keshav Joshi on the tabla and Satish Kolli on the harmonium.
Session II
Concert 1
On the 29th of September, Sunday, the session II of the festival features Vocal concert by Sri.Siddarth Belmannu, he will be accompanied by Sri. Yogesh Bhat on the tabla and Sri Prasad Kamat on Harmonium from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
Concert 2 - 2nd concert of session II on 29th of September 2024, Sunday, Sri.Lakshay Mohan & Sri Aayush Mohan will present Sitar & Sarod recital from 6:45 pm to 8:45 pm. Pandit Ram Kumar Mishra will be accompanying them on tabla.
