Mangaluru, Karnataka: The 11th IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives, and Energy Systems (PEDES) 2024, organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at NITK, was inaugurated today, at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal. Scheduled to be held from December 18 to 21, 2024, this flagship biennial conference is sponsored by the IEEE Industry Applications Society and technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Power Electronics Society, Industrial Electronics Society, and Power & Energy Society.
This year marks a significant milestone as it is the first time the IEEE PEDES conference has a Woman General Chair, Dr. Kalpana R from NITK Surathkal. The conference has achieved several remarkable records this year:
The highest number of submissions with over 900 papers received.
Over 500 papers presented, the highest in its history.
Record-breaking industry sponsorships, registrations, and industry sessions.
Exceptional keynote lectures and tutorials without any repetitions.
A notable highlight this year is the participation from Northeast India, which has been absent in previous conferences. This year, 76 papers from Northeast India were submitted, constituting 10% of the overall participation.
The of today’s inauguration Chief Guest, Prof. Milos Manic, President IEEE, IES, and the Guest of Honour, Prof. Akshay Kumar Rathore, Representative IEEE IAS, along with NITK Deputy Director, Prof. Subash C Yaragal, congratulated the general chairs of the IEEE PEDES 2024 team at NITK - Dr. Kalpana R, Dr. P. Parthiban, and Dr. Brij N. Singh.
The goal of IEEE PEDES 2024 is to provide a dynamic platform for professionals, researchers, and students to exchange knowledge and explore advancements in power electronics, drives, and energy systems. These subjects are crucial in the global context of energy sustainability and the challenges posed by climate change.
The conference has over 500 participants from across the globe, including faculty from IITs, NITs, and other colleges specializing in Power Electronics, Power Systems, and Drives.
