Banaras Lit Fest Bangalore Outreach Programme in Collaboration with JAIN (Deemed-to-be) University



Bangalore: The Banaras Lit Fest, one of India’s most prestigious literary and cultural events, marked its presence in Bangalore with an engaging outreach programme hosted in collaboration with JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). Held at Conference Hall 3, 2nd Floor, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Jayanagar, the event celebrated the confluence of art, literature, culture, and education through a thoughtfully curated lineup of activities.


The event commenced at 1:00 PM with a ceremonial Deep Prajwalan (Lighting of the Lamp) in Karnataka style by the Guests of Honor, followed by an invocation and a rendition of Karnataka’s iconic Nada Geete. Setting the mood for the day, renowned singer Dr. Nishant Malviya performed a soulful Krishna Bhajan in Raga Desh, creating an atmosphere of serenity.


In the inaugural session, Dr. Raj Singh, Vice Chancellor of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), delivered an insightful address on India’s New Education Policy (Nai Shiksha Niti), emphasizing its potential to reshape the future of education and learning.


The event also included a Press Conference, where Dr. Raj Singh chaired the session. Brijesh Singh, Founder and Secretary of the Banaras Lit Fest, spoke passionately about the festival’s journey and its upcoming third edition, scheduled for March 7–9, 2025, at Hotel Taj, Benaras. He highlighted the festival’s efforts to celebrate the rich history, sociology, and culture of the ancient city of Banaras while inviting stakeholders to join this unique cultural experience.


A riveting Panel Discussion on the theme Bridging Creativity and Commerce: Art, Literature, and Corporate Growth brought together a distinguished lineup of panellists:

Sunil Pawar, IFS, Government of India.

Shashidhar MR, President, POSSPOLE.

Dr. Gopalakrishna D S, Director, DHI Investigation & Meclif Engineering Pvt. Ltd.

Anshuman Awasthi, SVP, Mercedes-Benz.


Moderated by writer Shalini P Sawkar, the panel delved into the symbiotic relationship between creativity and commerce, offering invaluable perspectives on fostering corporate growth through art and literature.


The Keynote Address, delivered by Ritesh Kumar Singh, a noted business economist and columnist, focused on In Pursuit of India’s US$ 5 Trillion Target: What's Working for Us…What Challenges We Are Facing. Singh’s presentation was both thought-provoking and solution-oriented, leaving the audience with actionable insights.


Another highlight was the Discussion on Multidisciplinary Approaches to Indian Languages, led by Dr. Senthil Kumar, Co-founder of The Learners Confluences, who shared his vision on transitioning from understanding to creation through multidisciplinary approaches. Moderated by Monika Monalisa, a renowned art and culture journalist, the session reinforced the importance of innovative methodologies in preserving and promoting Indian languages.


The programme also showcased a vibrant Multilingual Poetry Recitation, with performances by notable poets and scholars, including:


Sunil Pawar,Madan Mohan Danish,Shlesh Gautam, Anshuman Awasthi, Dan Bahadur Singh and Prashant Singh. Faculty members from JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), such as Dr. Vishal Shrivastava, Dr. Swati Kumari, and Ms. Rashmi Bhura, among others.


The day concluded with enthralling Musical Performances by artists Sanjay Singh and Dr. Nishant Malviya, leaving the audience spellbound.


The Banaras Lit Fest Bangalore Outreach Programme successfully brought together academia, corporate leaders, artists, and literature enthusiasts, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and creativity. The event reaffirmed the Banaras Lit Fest’s mission to bridge the worlds of tradition and modernity while celebrating the cultural and intellectual wealth of India.
