Mangaluru, Karnataka: The 1999 B.Tech batch alumni of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (the then KREC) celebrated their silver jubilee reunion from December 22 to 24, 2024, at the NITK campus in Surathkal. Over 95 alumni from 8 departments attended the event, which was marked by a formal program held today.
The reunion was graced by the presence of the Deputy Director, functionaries, faculty, and staff of NITK, along with the alumni from the B.Tech class of 1999 who travelled from various parts of the world to participate. The batch has expressed a keen interest in contributing to the infrastructural development projects of the campus, particularly the "NITK Mission Water +," aimed at addressing the water crisis in and around NITK.
During the formal event, the alumni batch felicitated retired professors, Prof. K R Kamath and Prof. Appukuttan, and current faculty members, Prof. Suman David, Prof. M S Bhat, and Prof. K V Gangadharan, expressing their gratitude and love for their esteemed teachers.
A notable aspect of the reunion was the participation of five women alumni. During their study period, the batch had only ten women, making the attendance of five women alumni a significant highlight of the event.
The team thanked Mr. Vasudev, Mr. Ravindra Gujral, Mr. Arvind Shroff, Mr. Rajasekhar G, Mr. Yuvraj G from the 99 batch for organizing this memorable reunion.
