Mangaluru: Anirvedha Foundation-A Resource Centre for Psychological Well-being, a non-profit organization in the city has launched ‘Support Saturday’ a free and inclusive initiative designed to support for all children with special needs in the city.
Iftikar Ali, chairman of the Allied and Healthcare Council of Karnataka, launched the initiative during ‘Dawat-e-Iftar,’ an event organized for differently-abled children from the city, on Tuesday evening. The gathering, celebrating inclusivity, togetherness, and sharing blessings, included 100 special children, their parents, and others.
Dr KT Shwetha, director of the foundation announced that ‘Support Saturday’ will commence from March 29, 2025, will be held every Saturday from 3PM to 4:30 PM at Anirvedha's premises in Morgansgate. ‘Support Saturday’ aims to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and other developmental challenges.
The initiative focuses on enhancing social skills, communication, and essential life skills through engaging activities. These include structured play, art and music therapy, physical exercises, and emotional regulation techniques. Sessions will be led by a team of trained professionals, including psychologists, speech-language pathologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, special educators, and mental health volunteers.
Parents, caregivers, and community members are encouraged to participate. Parent training and peer support will also be available, fostering a collaborative support network.
