International Women's Day celebrated at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru
Bengaluru: “It is time to end gender discrimination and prioritize gender equality. Most of the women are still being exploited worldwide. This is truly horrifying even in modern times. The United Nations has also called for a global movement for accelerating gender equality. We celebrate International Women's Day every year. Every time we continue to tell about gender equality and women's achievements. But if it is to be effective, the mood and perspective of women should change and they should involve in creating awareness among underprivileged”, opined Manjula V. Kadetotad, Senior Program Manager, Synopsis.
She was speaking at the inauguration of the International Women's Day celebration held in collaboration with the Nitte Meenakshi Technical College and The Institution of Telecommunication Engineers(IETE), Bangalore Centre.
Further she said, "A woman needs to be able to deal with multiple challenges because she should strive not only to be a good woman at workplace but also to maintain the well -being of the house.”
The event was presided by Dr. C.V. Ravishankar, Chairman, IETE, Bangalore centre. In his speech, he said that potential women should contact at least five poor girls to instil confidence in them."
The event was attended by Rohit Punja, Administrator of the Nitte Education Trust, Dr. H.C. Nagaraj, Principal, NMIT; Dr. Shailaja Shastri, Head of Centre of Flourish at the Institute; Dr. Hita Shetty, Dean (Student Welfare); Dr. Parameshachari B.D, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, were present on the occasion
At the same time, the IETE honoured female teachers and girl students who have excelled in the activities of the organization.
