NITK Students Win First Place at IEEE Signal Processing Cup 2025

Surathkal: The IEEE Signal Processing Society’s prestigious Signal Processing Cup (SP CUP), an annual undergraduate student competition, was held as part of the International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP) 2025, one of the most esteemed conferences in signal processing.

The event this year featured 39 teams from 20 countries, all competing in an advanced technology challenge. This year’s competition focused on building an AI system to detect fake faces in videos, addressing growing concerns in digital security and misinformation. The challenge required participants to design advanced models capable of identifying manipulated and fake facial content, contributing to the fight against deepfake technology.

The NITK Surathkal team, consisting of students Aryan Herur, Hemanth Kumar M., M.
