NITK Surathkal Hosts its Prestigious Ring Presentation Ceremony 2025


Surathkal: The National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal conducted its annual Ring Presentation Ceremony today at the campus. A total of 2,015 graduating students received silver rings engraved with the NITK emblem and their year of graduation, symbolizing their enduring connection to the institute.


The tradition, initiated by Prof. A.S. Adke over fifty years ago, is unique in India. The silver ring not only connects graduates to their Alma Mater but also unites NITKians worldwide. Faculty members personally present each student with the ring while wishing them success in their future endeavours.


This year, rings were awarded to students from various programs, including:

B.Tech: 949

M.Tech: 653

MCA: 68

MBA: 69

MSc Physics: 35

MSc Chemistry: 34

M.Tech Research: Final year (31) and second year (20)

PhD: 156


As part of the ceremony, Ms. Sai Priya, a B.Tech Mining Engineering student, was honoured as the Best Outgoing Student with a Gold Medal, Teekay's Prize Fund, and a Gold Ring. Ms. Soumi Ganguly and Mr. Diviz Akkshat, also from B.Tech Mining Engineering, received Gold and Silver Medals respectively for their achievements.


The event was graced by Shri Niranjan Mahabaappa, President of the NITK Alumni Association, as Chief Guest, and Shri Umar Teekay, Managing Director of Teekay Groups, as Guest of Honour. The ceremony, presided over by Prof. B. Ravi, Director of NITK, and witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Prof. A.C. Hegde, Dean of Students Welfare; Prof. Dwarakesh, Dean of Academics; Shri K. Ravindranath, Registrar; along with functionaries, faculty, and staff of NITK Surathkal.
