Surathkal, June 3, 2025: As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal successfully conducted a 700-sapling plantation drive today near Boys Hostel Block 5, NITK Campus.
The initiative, supported by the Forest, Ecology, and Environment Department, Government of Karnataka, saw active participation from NITK Director, Prof. B. Ravi, Deputy Director, Prof. Subhash C. Yaragal, along with functionaries, staff, and students. Held ahead of World Environment Day 2025 on June 5th, the drive aligns with the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign, a nationwide movement launched by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Government of India.
The "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" initiative, inaugurated on June 5, 2024, by our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, encourages individuals to plant trees in honour of their mothers, symbolizing both environmental responsibility and gratitude. By integrating this vision, NITK promotes sustainability and encourages its community to build a greener future.
