Second Life for 28-Year-Old: Risky Robotic Gallbladder Surgery Successful Despite Weak Heart

Bengaluru, Whitefield: A 28-year-old man who had undergone major heart surgery at the age of 5 had been living with a weak heart throughout his life. Recently, when he suffered from severe abdominal pain for three months, medical investigations revealed that he was suffering from Gallbladder Cancer.

He consulted Dr. Kaushik Subramanian, Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist at Medicover Hospital, who confirmed the diagnosis and advised Robotic Radical Cholecystectomy. However, the surgery was considered extremely risky, because of his weakened heart condition. There was a high chance of heart failure, excessive bleeding, cardiac arrest, and even risk to life during surgery.

Despite these dangers, the medical team at Medicover Hospital, led by Dr. Kaushik Subramanian, accepted the challenge and went ahead with the surgery. The Robotic Radical Cholecystectomy was successfully performed.

Every moment during surgery was tense, but with the help of advanced robotic technology and the expertise of the surgical team, the procedure was completed without complications.

Speaking about the case, Dr. Kaushik Subramanian said:

“This was not just a gallbladder surgery. It was about giving new hope to a young man who had been living under the fear of his weak heart. Robotic technology made it possible to perform this surgery safely and successfully.”
