Nitte: ‘The need to reduce the carbon footprint of conventional energy sources has made Green Hydrogen a promising solution for the energy transition. The most environment friendly way to produce hydrogen is through water-based production using renewable energy. However, the availability of fresh water is limited, so switching to waste water instead of fresh water is the key solution to this problem. It is a matter of pride and pleasure to note that Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, after conducting series of research, has collaborated with APAS Energy Technology, has today organized a successful demonstration of hydrogen production and use at the wastewater treatment plant in its premises’, opined K.P. Rudrappaiah, Managing Director of Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited, Government of Karnataka. He was speaking after inaugurating and witnessing the live demonstration of the innovation at the sewage treatment plant of Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, a constituent college of Nitte Deemed to be University. Atal Community Innovation Center-NMIT Foundation (ACIC-NMIT Foundation)in collaboration with APAS Energy Technologyconducted this experiment to pave the way for new innovations in the field of Clean Hydrogen production from waste water.
Further he added that Karnataka Renewable Energy DevelopmentLimitedwould encourage and fund constructive innovations in the field of hydrogen explorations without harming ecological balance.
The other eminent industrialists and scientists who viewed the demonstration included - S.N. Agarwal, Chairman,Boruka Group; Dr. C.V. Ravishankar, Chairman The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE); Harsha R.M, Industry expert, Boeing; Dr. Mallikarjuna Rao, Director, Central Power Research Institute(CPRI); Dr. Archana Magadi and Dr. Navneet Kumar Gupta of Indian Institute of Science; Dr. Shiv Pratap Singh Yadav, Head,Atal Community Innovation Centre-NMIT Foundation and Dr. L.
