Bengaluru: The Computer Science Society, an integral part of the IEEE Student Chapter at St. Joseph’s University, Bengaluru, was formally inaugurated with its Investiture Ceremony held on 19 January 2026. The event marked a significant step in strengthening student leadership and promoting excellence in the field of computer science.
The ceremony began with the arrival of the dignitaries, followed by an invocation prayer led by Fr. Denzil Lobo, SJ, which set a dignified tone for the proceedings. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing knowledge, wisdom, and leadership.
Dr. Deepa Nagalavi, Advisor of the IEEE Computer Society, introduced the Chief Guest and highlighted his notable contributions to IEEE and his continued mentorship of student communities.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Devendra Gowda, in his address, encouraged students to actively participate in IEEE activities, enhance their technical skills, embrace innovation, and uphold leadership responsibilities with integrity and dedication.
Student representatives Ms. Rida Quazi and Mr. Farhanulla Sami shared their vision and enthusiasm for organizing impactful technical, professional, and community-oriented initiatives under the IEEE Computer Society.
The highlight of the program was the Investiture Ceremony, during which the newly elected office bearers were formally inducted. This was followed by the Oath-Taking Ceremony, administered by Dr. Deepa Nagalavi, reaffirming the office bearers’ commitment to ethical and responsible leadership.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. Amrutha M, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, organizers, and participants. The ceremony concluded successfully, setting a strong foundation for future IEEE Computer Society activities at the university.
