Annual NSS Special Camp of St Philomena Autonomous College Concludes at Papemajalu Ariyadka

Puttur: The Annual Special Camp of the National Service Scheme (NSS) of St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, for the academic year 2025–26 concluded on February 9, 2026, at the Government High School, Papemajalu Ariyadka. The week-long camp was held from February 3 to February 9, 2026, under the inspiring theme “Youth for Digital Literacy – Youth for My Bharat.”


The valedictory ceremony was graced by Very Rev. Lawrence Mascarenhas, Correspondent of St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, Dr K. Sheshappa, NSS Programme Coordinator, Mangalore University; Dr Vijaya Kumar Molayaar, Vice-Principal of St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, Mrs Meenakshi Papemajalu, Mr Sridhara Poojary, Mr Sachin Papemajalu, Mrs Mallika J. Rai, Dr Haji S. Aboobacker Arlapadavu, Mrs Shashikala and Ms Praveena, among others.

Delivering the valedictory address, Dr K. Sheshappa highlighted the importance, relevance and societal impact of the National Service Scheme. He emphasized the values, discipline and life lessons that volunteers gain through such special camps, encouraging students to continue serving society with commitment and integrity. The dignitaries on the dais later shared words of encouragement and extended their best wishes to the volunteers.


On the occasion, NSS volunteers who rendered outstanding service were honoured by the guests. Prizes were also distributed to winners of various academic competitions conducted during the camp, as well as for excellence in report writing. The report-writing prizes were awarded to Dwithi, Spandana, Keerthana and Ashwini.


Donors who supported the camp were felicitated with mementos, and mementos were also presented to the dignitaries present on the dais. As a token of remembrance, the NSS unit of St Philomena College donated chairs to the Government High School, Papemajalu Ariyadka.


Addressing the volunteers, Very Rev. Lawrence Mascarenhas lauded their dedication and active participation throughout the camp and urged them to carry forward the spirit of service in their future endeavours.


The programme began with a welcome address and concluded with a vote of thanks by NSS Officers Mrs Pushpa N. and Dr K. Chandrashekar. The camp report was presented by Geetha K. B. and Rathan. Volunteers Aparna S., Sushma, Rishika, Manish and Akash Rai shared their experiences and reflections from the camp. The report on special achievements was read out by Ashwini, while the prize distribution list was announced by Vishnujith. The programme was compered by Spandana.
