Puttur: A two-day workshop titled “Building Web Apps with WordPress” was jointly organised by the Department of Postgraduate Studies in Computer Applications, St Philomena College (Autonomous) Puttur, the New Age Incubation Centre, and the WordPress Community, Udupi.
The inaugural programme was held at the PG Seminar Hall. The workshop was formally inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp by the Principal Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, along with members of the WordPress Community, Udupi, Manjunath M M and Omkar Udupi.
Presiding over the function, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro emphasised that innovation has become a crucial element in the modern era. He said that transforming an idea into a meaningful solution requires not only creativity but also a supportive environment. He highlighted that the college has adopted a culture that encourages experimentation, collaboration and continuous learning. Through academic, technical and co-curricular activities, the institution is sincerely providing all possible opportunities to enhance students’ skills. He urged students to actively utilise such opportunities and to maintain genuine interest, curiosity, active participation and commitment towards learning.
Speaking as the chief guest, Manjunath M M, a member of the WordPress Community, Udupi, congratulated the organisers for conducting a workshop on WordPress. He explained the significance and growing relevance of WordPress and encouraged students to participate actively in the sessions and make the best use of the workshop.
The programme began with a prayer rendered by first-year MCA student Delisha and team. Dr Vinayachandra, Dean of the Department of Postgraduate Studies in Computer Applications, welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory address. A vote of thanks was proposed by Akshata B, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Applications. The programme was compered by second-year MCA student Apoorva K.
Abhishek Suvarna, District Innovative Associate of the New Age Incubation Centre, was present on the dais. Shodhan P G, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Applications, extended his cooperation in organising the programme.
The workshop aimed at equipping students with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in building web applications using WordPress, thereby enhancing their technical competencies and industry readiness.
