Bengaluru: The Department of Sciences, B.M.S. College for Women, under the esteemed aegis of B.M.S. Educational Trust, in collaboration with Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University, solemnly convened the Valedictory Ceremony of the National Science Conference titled “Biosphere 2026: Science for a Sustainable Planet” on 26 February 2026 at 3:30 PM. The distinguished gathering was hosted at the B.M. Sreenivasaiah Memorial Auditorium, B.M.S. College of Architecture, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru.
The valedictory session signified the triumphant culmination of the two-day National Science Conference, conducted in hybrid mode, which garnered vibrant participation from eminent academicians, dedicated researchers, and aspiring students representing institutions from across the nation. The conference stood as a testament to the institution’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and sustainable scientific advancement.
The ceremony commenced with a gracious welcome address by Dr. Raghukumara N, Principal of B.M.S. College for Women, who conveyed profound gratitude to the distinguished dignitaries, respected delegates, and enthusiastic participants for their invaluable scholarly contributions and spirited engagement throughout the conference. He thereafter had the honour of introducing the Chief Guest to the august assembly.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Ramakrishna Reddy, Joint Director, Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Karnataka, Bengaluru, delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking address. He commended the institution for orchestrating a conference of national prominence and underscored the pivotal role of higher education institutions in nurturing a vibrant research culture, fostering innovation, and cultivating environmental consciousness. Emphasizing the urgent need for sustainable solutions, he urged students to pursue scientific inquiry that meaningfully addresses contemporary environmental challenges. He further exhorted them to remain steadfast in their dedication, uphold consistency in their efforts, surmount obstacles with resilience, and sustain an enduring quest for knowledge as they strive toward excellence.
A total of 93 students and faculty members from 24 colleges across the country actively presented research papers and posters, showcasing diverse and insightful scientific investigations. The conference further witnessed the participation of nearly 200 science enthusiasts in hybrid mode, reflecting its wide outreach and vibrant academic engagement at the national level.
