Mangaluru Feb 07: “Doctors should attend CME Medical Workshops periodically and engage themselves in regular studies and research. Further equip themselves in recent trends, technologies and developments in the health care sector.” Opined Dr. Haji U.K. Monu, Managing Director of Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences (K.I.M.S). He was speaking after inaugurating the medical workshop “Tiny Patients and Big Decisions” organized by Dept. of Paediatrics in association with Dept. of Microbiology and Dept. of Pharmacology held on 07.02.2026 at their college auditorium. Further he added that the delegates should actively participate and enhance their knowledge to succeed in their profession.
Dean of the College Dr. Shahnawaz Manipady revealed in his address the significance and purpose of the workshop and added that eminent resource persons from different medical colleges and hospitals across the country will deliver interactive lectures on Management of Paediatrics. The main issue is the growing concern of clearing the fog of irrational antibiotic prescriptions in paediatric practice. This workshop tailored to benefit consultant paediatricians and post graduate students. Senior Consultant Paediatrician Dr. Shamshad A. Khan delivered the introductory address.
Dr. Bhaskar Shenoy of Manipal Hospital, Bangaluru delivered the key note address. Dr. Ashwath Duraiswamy of Kovai Medical College, Coimbatore delivered the guest lecture on Typhoid Management. Dr. Princy Louis Palatty of Amrutha Medical College, Kochi dwelt in detail on Antimicrobial resistance.
Dr. Akshatha Ravindra of Kauvery Hospital, Bangaluru delivered a guest lecture on new drugs and choosing antibiotics wisely. Later all the four guest faculty were felicitated in recognition of their commendable achievements in their respective fields.
Head of the Paediatric Dept. Dr. Oniell Fernandes welcomed the gathering. Organizing Secretary Dr. Prithvi proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. Dylan D’souza compeered the programme. About 150 delegates from various medical institutions actively participated in this academic session.
