Puttur: The Department of Computer Science of St Philomena College, in association with the Pinnacle IT Club, organized Vision 2K26, an intra-department IT fest for the students of the Computer Science department.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp by the Principal of the college, Rev. Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro. Addressing the students on the occasion, he said that while college life follows a structured timetable, the professional world largely revolves around deadlines.
He emphasized that discipline and time management are essential to ensure that responsibilities are completed within the given deadlines. He added that competitions such as these help students develop the ability to complete tasks efficiently within a fixed timeframe.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vinayachandra, Dean of the Computer Science Department, said that the college has been organizing the Vision Intra-Department IT Fest since 2012. He noted that the fest provides students with a unique opportunity to showcase their hidden talents alongside their academic learning.
He further said that the Vision programme, conducted under the aegis of the Computer Science Department, serves as an active platform that encourages innovative thinking while helping students develop creativity and technical skills. According to him, the announcement of Vision competitions always generates enthusiasm among students. Such competitions also help nurture leadership qualities, a competitive spirit, self-confidence and teamwork among participants.
The programme began with a prayer by Surabhi and team. Yusuf Ali Saleel, President of the Pinnacle IT Club, welcomed the gathering, while Deeksha, the Vice-President of the club, delivered the vote of thanks.
The programme was compered by Sheetal, a second-year BCA (AI & ML) student. Teekshan, Secretary of the Pinnacle IT Club, along with Srujana, a third-year BCA student, and Pratyaksha, a first-year BCA student, extended their support in organizing the event.
On the occasion, Fatimat Sanid and Sameeda, Assistant Professors of the department who qualified in the K-SET and NET examinations, were felicitated. Dr. Geetha Poornima K, Assistant Professor, delivered the felicitation address.
Vision 2K26 featured a total of 15 competitions. While the preliminary rounds of several events had already been conducted earlier, the final rounds were held on the day of the fest.
