Mangalore: The 47th All India Major Ports Volleyball Tournament and 21st Beach Volleyball Tournament concluded successfully on 27.03.2026 at the NMPA Sports Complex, Panambur, hosted by New Mangalore Port Authority. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from 10 Major Ports across India, showcasing outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork, and competitive spirit among the participating teams.
In the Volleyball Tournament, Cochin Port Authority emerged as Champions, defeating New Mangalore Port Authority in a closely contested match by 3–1 sets, with NMPA securing the runners-up position. V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority secured third place by defeating Chennai Port Authority in 2–0 sets.
In the Beach Volleyball Tournament, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority clinched the championship title against Cochin Port Authority with 2-0 sets. In a commendable display of sportsmanship, Cochin Port conceded the final after one of the VOC players sustained an injury and was unable to continue. At the time of the incident, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority was leading with scores of 21–17 in the first set and 8–3 in the second set, following which VOC Port was declared the winner. Chennai Port Authority secured third place in the Beach Volleyball Tournament against NMPA.
The valedictory function was presided over by Smt. S. Shanthi, Deputy Chairperson, NMPA, who distributed prizes to the winners and congratulated all participating teams for their outstanding performances. The ceremony was held in the august presence of Shri Padmanabhachar K., Chief Vigilance Officer, NMPA, Capt. Manoj Joshi, Deputy Conservator & President, NMPSC, along with Heads of Departments and senior officers of the Port.
Capt. Manoj Joshi, President, NMPSC, welcomed the gathering, while Smt. S. Shanthi congratulated the winning teams and appreciated all participants for their spirited participation and sportsmanship. Shri Gladstone, General Secretary, NMPSC, delivered the vote of thanks.
The tournament strengthened camaraderie among Major Ports and highlighted the importance of sports in promoting teamwork, discipline, and unity within the maritime community.
