Mangalore: Kasaragod City based Eminent Environmentalist Dr. R.K. Nair has been conferred with the Rotary 23rd Annual State Level prestigious "Vandana Award" at a function held on 21.03.2026 at Hotel Sea View Mangalore. The award is conferred on him in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the field of Environment protection and in appreciation of his invaluable contributions in the field of Green Afforestation in India. The award is jointly instituted by Rotary Club of Mangalore Central and Rotract Club of Mangalore City.
Chairman of the Award Selection Committee Rtn. Dr. Devdas Rai performed award presentation formalities and in his introductory address revealed that the Annual Vandana Award is conferred on Exemplary achievers and it is a part of clubs vocational service project. He congratulated Green Hero of India Dr. Radhakrishna Nair on his outstanding achievements in the field of Environment protection and Green Afforestation. He converted more than 1000 acres of barren landscape into innovative Japanese method of Miyavaki forest across 13 Indian states to combat pollution and restore biodiversity.
Rotaract club president Akshay Rai introduced Dr. R. K. Nair and revealed his exemplary achievements.
Responding to the felicitations the awardee expressed his gratitude to the Rotary Club and said that he deemed it as a privilege and honour to accept the award, which is very valuable among the awards he has won. He attributed this award to the encouragement and support of Government. Assistant Governor Rtn. Dr. Chinnagiri Gowda delivered the felicitation address.
President of Karnataka Working Journalists Association Mr. Shivananda Tagaduru was the Chief Guest on this occasion. He lauded Rotary club’s valuable contribution to the society and appreciated Rotary club identifying the achievers and presenting the award.
Club President Rtn. Bhaskar Rai presided over the function. District Rotaract Representative Rtn. Prajwal R., released the Club Weekly News Bulletin "Centor". Secretary Vikas Kotian presented the monthly report. Past President Brian Pinto, Zonal Lieutenant Ravi Jalan, were present.
President Elect Rtn. Raveendra, Janardhan Alva, Dr. Shivaprakash sponsored this event. Rotaract Club Secretary Vivek Rao proposed a vote of thanks. Sheldon Crasta compered the program.
