Surathkal, April 24: The Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences (MACS) at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal celebrated the graduation of its first batch of B.Tech in Computational and Data Science (2022–2026) at the LHC-C Seminar Hall on April 24, 2026.
A total of 31 students graduated from the inaugural batch, with all 27 eligible students securing placements- achieving a remarkable 100% placement record. The highest CTC was ₹76.28 LPA, while the average CTC stood at ₹28.72 LPA. The graduates were honoured with souvenirs in recognition of their academic accomplishments.
The event was graced by Shri. Rudramuni B., Former Head, Dell R&D, as Chief Guest, and Shri. Niranjan Mahabalappa, President of the NITK Global Alumni Association, and Mr. Sanjeet Rao, Distinguished Engineer, Oracle, as Guests of Honour. The function was presided over by Deputy Director Prof. Subhash Yaragal. Dean of Academic Programmes Prof. Dwarakish G. S. and Dean ACR Prof. Prasanna Belur were also present on the occasion.
A key highlight of the event was the expert session on “Staying Relevant for Career Growth,” delivered by Mr. Rudramuni B. and Mr. Sanjeet Rao. The session offered valuable insights into emerging industry trends, the importance of continuous upskilling, and adaptability in today’s dynamic technological landscape, providing the graduating students with a clear perspective on evolving skill requirements and strategies for career advancement in data science and computing.
“The achievements of this inaugural batch set a strong foundation for the programme’s future,” said Prof. Pushparaj Shetty D., Head of Department, MACS, NITK Surathkal.
