Annual sports meet of postgraduate departments of University College Mangaluru
Mangalore: Sports is not only for prize but also for life. Healthy life can be achieved by spending half an hour for sports and exercise every day, said Dakshina Kannada Department of Youth Service and Sports Assistant Director Ravi Y Naik.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the annual sports meet of postgraduate departments of University College Mangalore on Tuesday, he said, “Sports keep us active. Sports is necessary for our physical and mental health even after college life,” he said. Meanwhile he reminded that there is 2 percent reservation in government jobs for sportspersons. In her presidential address, Principal Dr. Anasuya Rai hailed the discipline and enthusiasm of the PG students.
Physical Director Dr. Keshavamurthy, Coordinator of PG Studies in History and Archaeology Dr. Kumaraswamy M, PG studies in Chemistry Coordinator Dr. Laxman K, PG Studies in Commerce Coordinator Dr. Yathish Kumar, PG Economics Coordinator Dr. Ramakrishna BM, and PG Studies in Hindi Coordinator Dr. Nagarathna N. Rao were present among others.
March Past by students attracted attention of the onlookers. Sports achievers Kaveramma, Chaithali, Pavan and Deepika got the honour of leading the sports lamp. Prajna P Naik mastered the ceremony. Tasreefa welcomed the guests. Nikitha extended vote of thanks.
As a part of the event, 14 individual and 5 group competitions were organised for the PG students. PG teachers and students were present.
