Probationary IAS Officer opines at PG Day celebration at University College Mangalore
MANGALORE: Society expects more from students with higher education. Therefore, students should make the tradition progressive, correct the society's biases to set an example for next generation, said probationary IAS officer Mukul Jain.
Speaking as the chief guest at the Post Graduation Day celebrations at Ravindra Kalabhavan of the University College Mangalore here on Thursday, he said that the society should have zero gender discrimination. Girl students create a self-reliant life by using the opportunities they get, it will inspire others.
Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. Jayaraj Amin said, “It is commendable that the College has grown into an attractive institution with quality education, skills and values. The atmosphere of this college has all kinds of ideologies, open minded students. Due to this, the students of this college have been able to achieve in various fields," he said. Principal Dr. Anasuya Rai appreciated the achievements of all six PG departments of the college.
On the occasion, I. Priyadarshini and Ashma D'Souza were felicitated for clearing NET with JRF. Rank winning students Sai Surya (History and Archaeology), Prajna P Nayak (Economics), Dimple Mishal Tauro (Hindi), Ashwini G (Chemistry) and Vanishree (Commerce) were also felicitated. Prizes were also distributed to the winners of various cultural and sports competitions.
PG Economics Coordinator Prof. Ramakrishna BM welcomed the guests. PG Commerce Coordinator Prof. A Siddique read the annual report. PG Hindi Coordinator Dr. Nagarathna N Rao, Madhura of PG Economics, Coordinator of PG Chemistry Dr. Sanjay Anna Rao coordinated the prize distribution program. Dr. Meenakshi MM, Coordinator of PG Department of History, proposed the vote of thanks. Shama INM of PG Department of Economics mastered the ceremony. The cultural variety that followed was eye-catching.
Rajasthan official who spoke in Kannada!
Mukul Jain, a probationary IAS officer from Rajasthan, surprised by speaking fluently in Kannada. "Coming to the college for the second time within a few days of coming to Mangalore is a rare opportunity for me. Although I do not know Kannada, I have tried to learn and speak it. Since there are students, I feel like a student too. I am sorry if there are mistakes in Kannada speech,” said the young officer who spoke in Kannada for about 20 minutes and got loud applause from the students. Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University and Principal of the college praised the officer's commitment as a role model for the students.
