8th edition of 48-hour National-level Hackathon event
Bengaluru: ‘In the field of technical education Hackathon is very much essential to prepare Industry-ready professionals. Hackathon is derived out of Hack and Marathon. It is a challenge and experimentation for the coders to find a viable solution. For students, it increases their motivation and passion for their work. It helps industries to solve both technical and non-technical business opportunities. It also increases professional networking using programming languages. It is certain that during the timed event one might experience new coding languages, techniques and leadership skills. Hackathon plays a major role not only in the life of a student but also in the development of technology globally’, opined Chiraayu K. Pandya, Category Head India, Logitech, while inaugurating the 8th edition of 48-hour national-level Hackathon event ‘NMIT Hacks-2025’ at the premises of Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru.
NMIT Hacks 2025 is a National-level, 48-hour in-person hackathon hosted by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering of Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology. This event provides a platform for tech enthusiasts to showcase their creativity and innovation by solving real-world problems. The event consisted of five exciting tracks - AI/ML, Blockchain, IoT, Game Development, and Open Innovation.
For this flagship event, total number of applications received across the nation is 3,620. After the rigorous quality evaluation, 218 remained in the competition. After the competition which held for 48 hours, IIIT Bhagalpur secured first prize with cash reward. NMIT Bengaluru stood second and VTU Belagavi and RLJIT Doddaballapur shared the third prize.
Khushi Mahawar, Major League Hacking (MLH) Coach; Patel Muhammad, GitHub Campus Expert; Rohit Punja, Administrator, Nitte Education Trust; Dr. Sandeep Shastri, Vice President, Nitte Education Trust, Bengaluru campus; Dr. V. Sridhar, Professor Emeritus; Dr. J. Sudheer Reddy, Dean (Academics); Dr. S. Meenakshi Sundaram, Head, Department of CSE; Coordinator of the event Dr. Vani V; faculty members and students were present on the occasion.
The winning teams received their prizes during the valedictory event held on Sunday.
