St Aloysius University celebrates resounding success with Aloysian Fest 2025



Mangalore: St Aloysius (Deemed-to-be University), Mangaluru, hosted the much awaited Aloysian Fest 2025, A National Level Under Graduate fest organized by the Post Graduate Departments of the University.


This landmark event, held in the institution’s illustrious 145th year, witnessed the participation of 78 colleges from Goa, Kerala, Bengaluru, Hassan, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada. The fest brought together a vibrant mix of talent across seven major events, such as: Ark of Arts (PG Social Sciences), Saksham (PG Social Work), Udhgam (PG Commerce), Synapse (PG Biological Sciences), Quanta (PG Physical Sciences), Aloysiad (Sports Meet) and Kalaatrividha (Cultural Extravaganza).


The inauguration ceremony, held at L.F. Rasquinha Hall, began with a soulful prayer and welcome dance, followed by a visual tribute to the University’s rich legacy. Staff coordinator Ms Renita Joyce Fernandes extended a heartfelt welcome, setting the tone for the celebration. The traditional lamp-lighting ceremony by dignitaries added a solemn touch, after which the trophies were unveiled along with the symbolic Aloysian Fest Box.


Padma Shri awardee Mr Shekhar Naik, former captain of the Indian Blind Cricket Team, graced the occasion as chief guest and inspired students with his journey of perseverance and resilience. Rev. Fr Melwin J Pinto, SJ, Pro Chancellor St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) and Rector, St Aloysius institutions, highlighted the importance of embracing both victories and setbacks with a positive spirit. Rev Dr. Praveen Martis SJ, Vice Chancellor, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University, further emphasized that failure should never be seen negatively, explaining it as an opportunity for growth.



The event was honored by the presence of dignitaries including Rev. Fr Melwyn D’Cunha SJ, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr Ronal Nazareth- Registrar St Aloysius (Deemed University), Dr Alwyn D’Sa- Registrar St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Dr Loveena Lobo- Director of Maffei Block and Dr Asha Abraham- Director of LCRI Block. The vote of thanks was proposed by staff coordinator Ms Jovita Carrol Soans, while Mr Henvil Valder compered the event.


Valedictory ceremonies were organized by individual departments to award event wise winners, followed by a grand prize distribution programme presided over by Rev. Dr. Melwyn D’Cunha SJ and the Chief Guest Dr Alwyn Dsa along with other dignitaries.


Aloysian Fest 2025 provided a national platform for over 2,400 students from 78 colleges to showcase their talent, creativity, and innovative ideas. The fest encouraged collaboration and cultural exchange, leaving a lasting impression on participants.
