St Aloysius University in association with Prison Ministry India launched Unique Online Diploma Programme



Mangalore: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) Mangalore and Prison Ministry India launched a unique 4 month duration “Online Diploma Programme on Criminology and Forensic Psychology” on 1 September 2025.


The objective of this unique programme launched for the first time in India is to give the Prison Ministry India volunteers who visit the prisons, the knowledge and expertise on how to counsel the prison inmates to reform themselves and to engage in fruitful discussions with prison officials, police officers and lawyers on issues pertaining to extending assistance to the needy and poor inmates. The course includes topics like different types of crime, reasons why crimes are committed, psychology of persons committing the crime, jail administration, criminal justice system, methods of obtaining bail, skill development training that can be given inside prisons, rehabilitation of released prisoners etc.


The Bishop of Mangalore, Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha inaugurated the Diploma Programme and spoke about the significance of this course. Rev Dr Francis Kodian MCBS Prison Ministry India Co-Founder and National coordinator, was the Chief Guest, Rev Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Vice Chancellor presided. The course Coordinator Prof. Edmund Frank, Registrars Dr Alwyn D’Sa and Dr Ronald Nazareth, Sr Amala DC, PMI National Secretary, Resource Person Dr Saritha D’Souza were among the dignitaries present.
