Surathkal, December 5, 2025: The Centre for Continuing Education, National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) Surathkal, in collaboration with the Navodaya Leadership Institute (NLI), Goa, successfully organized a five‑day residential training workshop on “Enrichment, Creative Pedagogy, and Capacity Building for TGTs/PGTs of PM SHRI (Prime Minister’s Schools for Rising India).” The program was held from December 1 to 5, 2025, at the NITK Surathkal campus.
A total of 46 teachers from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas across the five southern states and Union Territory—Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Puducherry—participated in the workshop.
Prof. B. Ravi, Director, NITK Surathkal, delivered the inaugural address, emphasizing the vital role of teachers in shaping young minds in today’s challenging educational landscape. He highlighted the importance of adopting transformative teaching strategies to align with the evolving needs of school education.
The program focused on innovative pedagogical practices aimed at reshaping classroom learning. It emphasized student‑centered approaches, integration of modern technology, and a stronger focus on practice‑based learning rather than rote methods. Participants were encouraged to link real‑world applications to foundational concepts, impart experiential learning through hands‑on exposure, and incorporate elements of the Indian knowledge system into the school curriculum. In addition, the salient features and core values of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 were highlighted as guiding principles.
Systematic implementation of these strategies is expected to foster critical thinking, nurture curiosity, and enhance deeper learning outcomes among students.
Resource persons for the workshop included faculty members from NITK Surathkal, experts from other institutes of eminence, industry professionals, consultants, and startup mentors, ensuring a rich blend of academic and practical insights.
