Father Muller Medical College Hospital Achieves a Major Milestone in the Healthcare Sector
Mangaluru: In a ground breaking medical feat, a skilled team of doctors at Fr. Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangaluru have successively performed a rare life saving complex Pulmonary Thrombo-Embolectomy Surgery on a 38 year old critically ill patient, a native of Hassan and thereby granting him a new lease of life.
The patient approached Dr. H. Prabhakar, Chief Interventional Cardiologist, revealed his serious health problems and for remedial measures and said that he is experiencing acute chest pain, serious breathing problems, severe weakness and dizziness. He said that he is battling for life. After comprehensive clinical investigation, observed that patient is suffering from rare Pulmonary Disease, blood circulation problem due to blood clots, which causes heart and lung failure. It is a life threatening cardio-pulmonary condition. Considering the severity of the health condition which warranted instant emergency surgical intervention. He was immediately admitted to the hospital and referred the case to Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Anand K.T. He swung into action and instantly opted for definitive surgical intervention. He was supported by expert Cardiac Anaesthesiologist, Dr. M.M. Chethana Anand. The patient underwent successful Pulmonary Thrombo-Embolectomy Surgery, the complex procedure lasted for six hours and saved the life of the patient. This procedure required advanced surgical expertise and was meticulously planned and co-ordinated surgery with utmost care and caution. The dangerous blood clots were removed from the lung arteries and blood circulation was restored. It was a rare and successful life saving intervention.
Dr. Anand reacting to the surgery revealed that advance technology allows doctors to treat the high risk patients with greater precision and safety. Following the surgery the patient was shifted to ICU, and a specialised post operation care was initiated. The patient responded positively to the treatment and recovered full and was discharged from the hospital. He is leading a normal, healthy and active life in his native place.
